Advertising does not always come from television, billboards, and stores. Most advertising comes from the people that are around you or the people who you hang out with. When you like things that are already on the person’s bodybody that sort of have a body close to yours. You tend to want the product a lot more. When you give a product a try or a test it beforeyou purchase it, really brings you in more closer to buying the product. I would consider myself as more of a follow the trend type of costumer because I try to make sure that I like it but also that it is in style. The products that I wear like Nike Air Jordans, MIskeen Originals, Rocawear, Coogi, and Timberland, tends to bring a lot of products out at one time or they bring different products out each month so I usually have to see someone else in it. Most of the time you have to go shopping a lot to see all the new products. Most of the advertisment comes from my friends because we try to stay up on all the latest gear. It is hard now days to stay in style unless you have a job or good money coming in. Most of the things I wear are exspensive because so many people wear or use the product.
In the movie the way the main character tried to get that smoking was good wasn’t always the best way. I think that he was really good at his job but it sometimes put him position to get killed or mess up his life with his son. I thought that his son would be wanting to smoke but since he was so smart and did lots of travceling with his dad he understood what his dad was doing and that it was still a bad thing to do even though it was his dad career.I learned that busineeses will do whatever it takes in order to sell there product i think that is good sometimes but it doesnt always send out the good message. I will always buy products that I feel fits my needs and are good in quality.

This is definitly true, most people today only smoke because most of their friends do it and they want to be part of the trend…its advertisment through friends in this case

I don’t think that people smoke ONLY because their friends do it. Smoking is not a trend. Smoking has been around for hundreds of years and it’s not so much of your friends opinions of you if you do or do not smoke, but the fact that your own curiosity gets the best of you. If its that great- and its been around for so long- why not right?

You make an interesting point about a person’s environment and friends influencing their purchasing habits. It relates to the reading we did in class, “The Coolhunt,” in regards to being cool to know cool, etc. However, why did you feel it was necessary to list the brands you buy in your blog? Was it just to meet the word requirement, or has our society become so bloated with Conspicuous Consumption that we do it without noticing?

i agree with advertisement coming from the people you hang out with. word of mouth is the fastest way to get a product known. when i buy or se something new i want to share it with my friends.
