In my opinion, I really think that what advertisers do is good in a way. I mean everyone needs to make a living and that is what his or her job is. So if they need to get a hot girl or guy to represent the product then that’s what they have to do! There are many products that actually do work but people that buy certain things just need to use common sense. For example, I bought proactive because I saw the commercials but I also asked people about it. Some told me it worked and others didn’t. So I tried it myself. To my luck, it actually worked! So the reason I bought it wasn’t because I thought I was going to look like Jessica Simpson. The reason was because I wanted to clear up my acne. Now an example of why people get mad at advertisements is because they don’t think before they buy things. For example, a pretty girl in an Abercrombie ad……if someone sees that and is like oh that girl is pretty and buys the sweater she’s wearing and thinks they will get attention because now they magically look like her, now that’s just crazy. I mean naturally people buy attractive things but I don’t think people should feel like they are being “trapped” when they go out and buy something they see on tv or in the paper. They are using their own judgment to purchase things and if they are unsatisfied then that is their own fault.
Another example is that ax and tag body spray for guys. I think everyone has had a huge discussion about this commercial. Now I think every guy really needs to realize that obviously you won’t get a swarm of girls running to you if you wear that spray. I think the guys all know this but some people actually get upset about these commercials. Now there is nothing to be mad about……They are just trying to sell the product in a humorous way, which is a good attention-getting device. Overall, advertising is overrated. I know that everyone has their own opinion but we all need to realize that advertisers will do anything to sell their products and make their own living.

OK, Seeron. Late post? What do you mean by saying advertising is overrated? In what way?
I agree with what you say. Sometimes products like acne cream or sweaters are used by the media in a way that suggests sex. Its just really weird.

i agree that advertisers do what they have to do to sell a produck because that is their job, i do think they go over the top sometimes though. with the axe ad, it is very clever and definately gets peoples attention but its just ridiculous.the worst part is that they keep getting worse and more risky as they go on.
