Advertisements
Advertising is to announce or praise (a product, service, etc.) in some public medium of communication in order to induce people to buy or use it, for example, to advertise a new brand of toothpaste or even shoes. Also as Chuck Blore, (who is a partner in the advertising firm) was quoted by Ben H. Bagdikian said that advertising is the art of arresting the human intelligence just long enough to get money from it. Companies wanted to advertise their products to many people (millions of people), so they started something called mass media. Cigarettes are not allowed to be advertised on television. In the other hand they still make lots more money than those that do advertise their products. The cigarettes company does not need television to advertise its products, it got many other opportunities, or I should say Medias, one of which is people. People that smoke in a way advertise cigarettes, because smoking as most people should be aware of is addictive because of the nicotine found in it. For example, let’s say a person given a name We-We, was to walk by smokers daily, the non smoker We-We would experience second hand smoke, and as I mentioned earlier, that he would have nicotine that would make him want to smoke. We-We, suddenly one day did not go outside and did not pass by the smokers. However, because of the nicotine in him from the smokers he passed by, he experienced second hand smoke, and because of that he will crave and desire eagerly a cigarette, and because of that he will go to the store and buy cigarettes, We-We as well will advertise and also affect people. In general, Advertisers have many ways and techniques of how to sell their products, the two major techniques most advertisers use to sell their product are by: either implying that their product will bring about the achievement of a particular good, or make their product the object of desire. The problem with connecting products with their accomplishments is that products lies more in the domain of truth than in good, this is because it lies in weather the product stands up to its demand because if it does not people get the news around faster than the real news.

I know that it says by experiencing second hand smoke you can begin to crave the nicotine and have a higher probability to begin smoking. I think if you experience second hand smoke and you wanted to smoke but didn’t for any number of reasons, like your parents not liking smokers, then you’ll recieve the nicotine as a craving.
I on the other hand dispise smoking for any and every reason. I have lived around my mom, grandma, grandfather, uncle, and numbers of people i do and don’t know who smoke. I made my mind up early on that I wouldn’t be a smoker. I know when I turn 62 and apply for life insurance i’ll have a breeze because I plan to take as good care of myself now, so I will be around strong and living for a long time. I hope i live to be 100 or so. My great-grandma, who passed last week, lived to be 92 and a half. It’s in my bloodline to live long. Most of My family does.
It’s all about your environment. So i agree, but you have to assume the environment surely plays a major part.

I liked this phrase, Saher: advertising is the art of arresting the human intelligence just long enough to get money from it.
And, like Nick Naylor might say, I don’t think it has been proven that second hand smoke causes nicotine addiction, although it would be great if you had a source for that.
